Make a difference with your Hawkeye pride...
Alta Gracia Apparel is an innovative new clothing line produced at
the first-ever apparel factory in the developing world to pay a living
wage and demonstrate full respect for workers' rights. The factory,
located in the town of Villa Altagracia, Dominican Republic, makes
t-shirts and sweatshirts for Knights Apparel, a US-based clothing
company. The University of Iowa is committed to the purchasing of Alta Gracia products
and supports the strong initiative of the brand.
Workers at the Alta Gracia factory have made dramatic improvements in
their lives because of increased wages and exemplary working conditions for the workers.
Workers are now able to pay off debt accumulated over years of living in poverty and can now provide
themsleves and their family with an dignified standard of living.
Help improve the lives of the people who help improve ours.
The Worker Rights Consortium has verified that this product was sewn at a factory
where workers are paid a living wage and where their workplace rights are fully respected.
